Development Executive

Responsibilities
You will develop and oversee the creative process of documentary projects for Submarine. You’ll be involved with a variety of projects from the initial concept up to their release.

o Scouting for original creators, stories and ideas
o Research stories and characters, securing access to characters, story rights, archive etc.
o (co)write plans or guide director/researchers towards executable filmplan
o Inspire and collaborate with the production team on: financing strategies, writing engaging funding applications, seeking (international) co-producers and partners, and distribution strategies.
o Pitch projects at international film and new media markets
o Form creative teams to execute the projects
o Produce documentaries within budget and deadlines
o Ensure that sufficient projects are developed and produced so that the unit is financially sound
o Oversee the release and marketing strategies for projects

Requirements
– Relevant higher education (HBO/WO University or similar)
– At least 5+ years of working experience in a film or television environment.
– Strong background and senior experience in developing funding strategies and achieving budgets for this type of media.
– Fluent in speaking and writing in English.
Dutch speaking and writing preferred, but not required.
– Great interpersonal skills with the ability to voice opinions and give feedback.
– Great team player
– Awareness of global/local content trends within the market is a plus.
